Jack Roland Murphy
Jack Roland Murphy (or "Murph the Surf" or "Murf the Surf") (May 26, 1937[1] – September 12, 2020) was an American convicted murder and robber. He was also involved in the biggest jewel heist in American history, the 1964 burglary of the jewel collection of New York's American Museum of Natural History.
He was released from prison in 1986. He spent his latter years as an ordained minister, working with inmates in the field of prison ministry.[2] He was born in Oceanside, California.
Murphy died on September 12, 2020 in Crystal River, Florida of heart and multiple organ failure, aged 83.[3]
