James Uthmeier
James William Uthmeier (born November 20, 1987) is an American politician and lawyer serving as the 39th attorney general of Florida since 2025. Before becoming attorney general, he was chief of staff to Governor Ron DeSantis from 2021 to 2025.

On January 16, 2025, DeSantis appointed Attorney General Ashley Moody to the U.S. Senate to replace Marco Rubio as he became the U.S. Secretary of State.[1] DeSantis appointed Uthmeier to succeed Moody as attorney general.[2]
On February 17, 2025, Uthmeier was sworn in as the 39th attorney general of Florida.[3][4]
