Japanese knotweed (Persicaria japonica) is a perennial herbaceous plant. It lives in Asian countries including Taiwan, Japan and southern China.[1][2]

Japanese knotweed (Fallopia japonica) found on the Danish island of Zealand. What is striking are the densely arranged hollow trunks, which are visually reminiscent of bamboo.
This antique locomotive at Beekbergen, Netherlands, is overgrown by knotweed. A few years before, it was free of knotweed.
