Jayendra Saraswathi

Jagadguru Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya (born Subramanyam Mahadeva ; 18 July 1935 – 28 February 2018) was an Indian guru. He was the 69th Shankaracharya Guru and head or pontiff (Pïțhādhipati) of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. He served as head from 22 March 1954 until his death in 2018. He was born in Irulneeki, Thanjavur dt, Tamil Nadu.

Saraswathi died at a hospital in Kamakshi, India of respiratory failure on 28 February 2018 at the age of 82.
