Early life
Jean Berko Gleason is an American pioneer in the field of children’s language[1]. Gleason was born on December 19, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio[2]. Her brother had cerebral palsy[1]. Her brother’s condition gave her an interest in language[1].
Career
Gleason started her career with studying many languages, but then gained an interest in psycholinguistics[1]. She has a masters and bachelors degree in linguistics at Radcliffe[2]. She has a ph.D in linguistics and social psychology at Harvard[2]. Gleason created the Wug Test[3]. The Wug was created to help understand how young children understand and learn languages[3].
