Jean Frederick Oberlin
Jean Frederick Oberlin (August 31, 1740 – June 1, 1826) was an Alsatian educator who established schools in poor communities in France.
In the early 19th century, he was honored in the name of Oberlin College, which is an American liberal arts school in Ohio.[1]
In the mid-20th century, Oberlin University in Machida, Tokyo was named after him.[2]
