Jimmi Harkishin

James "Jimmi" Harkishin (born Rajan Harkinshindas; 19 March 1965) is a British actor, best known for his role as shopkeeper Dev Alahan in the long running ITV soap opera Coronation Street, which he has played continuously since 10 November 1999. He also had a small role in the film East is East, as well as Bhaji on the Beach. Harkishin played Gary Lobo in the Jonathan Creek episode "Danse Macabre".[1]

Harkishin was born in Paris, France, to an Indian father, Deepak, and an Italian mother, Soni.[2]

He began acting in 1987 under the stage name James Harkishin, and played the regular character of Jose Cuervo for 18 episodes between 1990–1993 in the children's TV series Uncle Jack.
