Joakim Soria

Joakim Soria (born May 18, 1984 in Monclova, Mexico)[1] is a Major League Baseball (MLB) relief pitcher for the Detroit Tigers. He was with the Kansas City Royals from 2007 to 2012, and was an All-Star twice for the Royals. He was nicknamed "The Mexicutioner",[2] but in February 2011, he said that he does not want to be called that anymore because of violence in Mexico.[3]

Major League Baseball career

Soria played in his Major League Baseball game in 2007 for the Royals.[4] In 2008, he was selected to the MLB All Star Game for the first time. Soria earned 42 saves in the 2008 season, which was the second highest number of saves among American League pitchers.
