John F. Shafroth was an American Democratic Party politician who served as governor of Colorado from 1909 to 1913. As governor, Shafroth pushed for the enactment of a wide range of labor reforms, such as a factory inspection law and child labor law. He also paved the way, according to one study, “for coal mine inspection and eight-hour work laws for women and miners.”[1] A number of other labor laws were passed during his time as governor.
