José Cutileiro

José Cutileiro (20 November 1934 – 17 May 2020) was a Portuguese diplomat and writer. Cutileiro was born in Évora, Portugal.

He was a representative to the Council of Europe. He was the Secretary General of the Western European Union (WEU) from 1994 to 1999. He was an envoy to the UN Commissioner for Human Rights in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia. He was on the faculty of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

Cutileiro died on 17 May 2020 at a hospital in Brussels, Belgium at the age of 85.[1]
