José Manuel Mireles Valverde

José Manuel Mireles Valverde (24 October 1958 – 25 November 2020) was a Mexican medical doctor and activist. He was the founder of the paramilitary self-defense groups that fought against the Knights Templar Cartel.[1] He would support people shooting at cartel members out of self-defense. He was arrest for having illegal firearms and explosives in 2014.[2]

On 25 November 2020, Mireles Valverde died from COVID-19 at the age of 62.[3]
