The site has been part of many controversies like hosting the video of the Christchurch mosque shootings and for being linked to trolling campaigns.[2]

History

The site launched as CWCki Forums in 2013, as a place to discuss Chris Chan, a webcomic artist.[3][4] "CWCki" comes from the name of a wiki for the person they discussed based on their initials.[5]

In 2022, Cloudflare removed them from their DDoS protection due to a online campaign.[6] It later had a blackhole placed on its domain name by Tier 1 ISPs, such as Lumen, Arelion, GTT and Zayo. This was unusual, as there are only 15 Tier 1 ISPs in the world, and Kiwi Farms does not break any laws. Eventually by routing through other ISPs, the forum was able to get back online.[7]
