Klaus Obermeyer
Klaus F. Obermeyer (born December 2, 1919) is a German-born American businessman and founder of Sport Obermeyer.
Biography
Obermeyer was born in Oberstaufen, Germany, in 1919.[1][2] In 1947, he move to Aspen, Colorado where he worked as a skiing instructor.[3]
He created the first nylon wind shirt and mirrored ski sunglasses from vaporized metal.[4] In 1997, he was added into the US National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.[2]
Obermeyer turned 100 in December 2019.[5] In 2025, he stepped down as CEO at the age of 105.[6]
