Lodewijk "Lode" Jan Wils (19 March 1929 – 10 December 2024) was a Belgian university professor and historian.

Wils studied law and history at the Catholic University of Leuven (later KU Leuven). He became a professor of history at the same university and taught there until 1995. He published on nation-building, Christian democracy and the Flemish Movement, including groundbreaking and award-winning works. One of his main works includes the biography of Frans Van Cauwelaert. His last work Vlaamse beweging, sociale beweging was published in 2023.[1] Wils is known for his strong opinions.[2][3]
