Mel Bartholomew

Mel Bartholomew (December 14, 1931 – April 28, 2016) was an American gardener, engineer, inventor, businessman, television presenter and writer. He was born in Kingston, New York, but was raised in California.[1] He was known for creating Square foot gardening. His first book Square Foot Gardening was the largest selling gardening book in American history.[2] He hosted the television program called Square Foot Gardening for eight years, featured on the USA's Public Broadcasting System. The Square Foot Gardening TV series ran on PBS, Discovery Channel, and Learning Channel for eight years.[2]

Bartholomew died in San Diego, California from liver cancer on April 28, 2016, aged 84.[3][4]
