Michael Mastro
Michael (Mike) R. Mastro (born June 1, 1925[1]), is a former American real estate developer. After declaring bankruptcy he became a fugitive in France. The United States tried to extradite him and his wife on charges of bankruptcy fraud[2] but did not succeed.
On June 7, 2018, the Courthouse News Service reported that a Bankruptcy Appellate panel(BAP) ruled that Mastro might have to give information about his foreign accounts.[3]
Biography
Mastro was in business for forty years in Seattle.[4] He declared bankruptcy in 2009. Mastro and his wife moved to France in 2011.[5] They were arrested in Lake Annecy of the French Alps in 2012 and faced extradition hearings.[6][7] After several months of house arrest, they were freed in June 2013, by a French court that denied extradition back to the United States.
Mastro’s bankruptcy has been described as the largest personal bankruptcy in the history of Washington state.[8]
Personal
Mike and Linda met in 1974 when they both worked at the People's Bank. They got married in 1989 after Mike's wife, Joan, died of cancer.[9]
