Mokujin is a character from the Tekken video game series. It first appeared in Tekken 3.

History

Tekken 3

Mokujin is a training dummy made from a 2,000-year-old oak tree.

It had been kept in a museum for many years. When Ogre awakened, Mokujin also began to move. In the game’s story, some people believe Mokujin wakes up from time to time to help martial artists, but only Mokujin and God know the truth.

In the movie Shaolin Wooden Men (1976), starring Jackie Chan, a wooden training figure similar to Mokujin appears in the opening scene, even though Tekken was released much later.

Tekken 5 / Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection

In Tekken 5, Mokujin is described as a wooden dummy made from white oak, originally used to train martial artists.

Mokujin began moving again two years earlier but stopped after Ogre was defeated by Jin Kazama. After being returned to the museum, Mokujin’s face appeared to be smiling.

Later, Mokujin starts moving once more when another powerful being appears.
