Monterey Park shooting

On January 21, 2023, a mass shooting happened in Monterey Park, California, United States. Eleven people were killed, and nine others were injured. The shooting happened after a Lunar New Year celebration at Star Ballroom Dance Studio at about 10:22 p.m. PST (UTC-8).[1][2]

The gunman shot and killed himself during a standoff with Torrance police the next day. He was identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran (September 30, 1950 — January 22, 2023). It is the deadliest mass shooting in the history of Los Angeles County.[3][4][5]
