Munawar Hasan
Syed Munawar Hasan (Urdu: سید منور حسن ; (5 August 1941– 26 June 2020) was a Pakistani politician. He was the Ameer (President) of Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan from 2009 to 2014.[1] He was born in Delhi, British India.
In late March 2014, Hasan became the first sitting emir or head in the history of JI to be voted out of office when Siraj-ul-Haq Khan was elected Ameer by the Jamaat Arakeen (JI members with voting rights).[2]
Hasan died at a hospital in Karachi from COVID-19 on 26 June 2020, aged 78.[3]
