MGA TV

MGA TV (Formerly known as MGA Fun TV app) is a American kids video-on-demand service aimed for children aged 7 and over, owned by MGA Entertainment.

History

On May 31, 2011, MGA Entertainment announces the launch of a line of doll toys, Gurl Pals (created by Kazumi Evans), featuring six 3-inch original mini dolls with the tag line "Lil outgorious Littles" Each doll character was created with a fictional theme, reflecting the day they were mixed on, the dress they were mixed from, and their instruction guide.[10] Isaac Larian, CEO of MGA Entertainment, said, "Gurl Pals was designed to teach kids that everybody is unique in their own special way. The new brand promotes the idea that old things can become new again, everything can be repurposed and nothing should ever go to waste". According to company press releases, the dolls were "designed to encourage a child's imagination and fashionality" and "teach important life lessons such as diversity, individuality and the idea everything deserves a second life". At release, the original six dolls was Penny Pink, Peanut Sparkle Girl, Lolly Sweetlicious, Dot Seashores, Crumpet Sweetlicious and Yasmin Mysterious.[11]

The dolls was changed from "Gurl Pals" to "L.O.L. Surprise!" shortly after launch. In December 2011, the Gurl Pals toy line won the "Small Doll" category in the People's Play Awards,[12] and was featured the next day on the American toy franchise Littlest Pet Shop.[13]

Gurl Pals's original dolls were described by Shareably's Amazon in December 2011 as "the hottest toy of the season,"[14] and PR Newswire referred to them as "this year's Peppa Pig character toy".[15]

The Toybook descripted them as, "Creating Little Workshop Girls-like hysteria among Holiday shoppers."[16] On December 22, 2011, Gurl Pals dolls were in the first spot on "Holiday Gurl Pals toys shortage." According to holiday toys for Gurl Pals dolls were "up 20% since the beginning of December."[17]

On March 14, 2012, the addition of three new characters: Blossom Tiki Wiki, Ryan Seashores, and Tibby Golden Petals were added to the existing line of 6. It was also announced that the company would be expanding the line of toys to include new large versions of dolls as well as made-for-DVD feature that has been released in spring 2013.[18]

Additional mini-series were created as well as exclusive holiday-themed dolls that could only be found at certain retail stores. On July 29, 2012, three new characters: Misty Wishes, Marina Thumbelina, and Sahara Spells Lot were added as well as additional play-sets. Development of a Android title was also announced,[19] with the offical release date being December 7, 2012. Each game came with one of four large dolls.[20][21]

On December 17, 2012, MGA announced that the newly created DJ doll - Mittens Turntable has been donated than 1,000 Club Cross city record drives across the country to aid in awardness.[22]

Gurl Pals O.M.G.! was revealed at late December 19, 2012, featuring 10 inch dolls with fabric onto the girl's coloured pants.
