Nomadland is a 2020 American drama movie written, edited, produced, and directed by Chloé Zhao. It stars Frances McDormand and David Strathairn. It is based on the 2017 non-fiction book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder.

Nomadland premiered on September 11, 2020. It had a one-week streaming limited release on December 4, 2020, and was released by Searchlight Pictures in selected IMAX theaters in the United States on January 29, 2021. It was released on Hulu, on February 19, 2021.

The movie had strong positive reviews, with it becoming the highest rated movie of 2020.[1]

It earned six nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress for McDormand.[2]
