Peterlee
Peterlee is a small town in County Durham, England. It was built under the New Towns Act of 1946. It was founded in 1948. It originally mostly housed coal miners and their families.
Peterlee is named after trade unionist Peter Lee. He worked to improve the working conditions and salaries of the thousands of local pit workers who were based in the area.

Victor Pasmore's 'Apollo Pavilion', Peterlee. The concrete 'thing' that stands in the water 1705711 can be seen in front of the 'bridge'. One of his blobby art works has been restored on the far concrete wall.
