Physical abuse is a form of abuse which causes feelings of pain, injury, or other physical suffering. Physical abuse may lead to low self-esteem and other mental problems.

Types of physical abuse

Physical abuse has many forms. A few examples of physical abuse are:

• Striking or hitting
• Punching
• Slapping
• Whipping
• Striking with an object
• Pinching
• Kicking
• Strangling
• Drowning
• Sleep deprivation
• Freezing
• Burning
• Electric shock
• Cutting
• Poisoning
• Withholding food or medication
• Assault
• Neglect
• Torture
• Any other excessive physical treatment.
