Piano Sonata No. 2 (Chopin)
Frédéric Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 35, popularly known as The Funeral March, was completed in 1839 at Nohant, near Châteauroux in France. However, the third movement, whence comes the sonata's common nickname, had been composed as early as 1837.
Movements
The sonata comprises four movements:
- Grave – Doppio movimento
- Scherzo
- Marche funèbre: Lento
- Finale: Presto

Breitkopf & Härtel edition edited by Johannes Brahms (1878). This edition lacks a backwards repeat sign at the Doppio movimento and therefore indicates that the repetition of the exposition should start at the Grave.
