Plunket Shield

The Plunket Shield is the national first-class cricket championship of New Zealand. It was launched in 1906 by New Zealand Cricket (NZC). The trophy was donated by William Plunket, who was Governor-General of New Zealand at the time, and named after him.[1]Canterbury won the first tournament in 1906–07. The most successful team has been Auckland, who have won 24 titles, most recently in 2021–22.[2]
