Radioresistance
Radioresistance is a property of some living things. It means they can resist the effects of gamma radiation, ultra-violet radiation, and similar types of radiation. A good example is the bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans. It has enzymes which repair the DNA strands which have been split by the radiation.[1]

This is a graph showing the effect of fractionation on the ability of gamma rays to cause cell death. The blue line is for cells which were not given a chance to recover while the red line is for cells which were allowed to stand for a time and recover.
