Rhône (department)

Rhône department
Rhône is a department in the center of France in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its prefecture (capital) is Lyon and about 475,000 people live there (2022 estimate).
Before 2015, Rhône included the Lyon Metropolis. The metropolis is now officially a "territorial collectivity" with the same powers as a department. Lyon remains the prefecture of Rhône despite no longer being a part of it.
