Ricky Thomas Ponting AO (born 19 December 1974) is an Australian cricket coach, commentator and former cricketer. He is widely thought of as as one of the greatest batsmen of all time.

Ponting captained his country between 2004 and 2011 in Tests and 2002 and 2011 in One Day Internationals (ODIs). With the Australian national team, he has won the World Cup three times, the ICC Champions Trophy twice and the Ashes once.[1] He appeared in 168 Tests for Australia between 1995 and 2012. His first Test was against Sri Lanka and his last was against South Africa. He also played for Tasmania from 1992 to 2013.[2]

Ponting has been assistant coach of the Australia national cricket team since February 2019.

Ponting was born in Launceston, Tasmania. He is married to Rianna Cantor. The couple have three children.
