Riot grrrl

Riot grrrl is an underground feminist punk rock movement. It started in the early 1990s in Washington. Kathleen Hanna's band the Bikini Kill made riot grrrl famous. Bratmobile was another influential riot grrrl band. Riot grrrl is associated with zine culture and third wave feminism.

In 1992 a zine distro called Riot Grrrl Press was started by Erika Reinstein and May Summer.

Pussy Riot are a Russian punk rock band that are influenced by Bikini Kill.
