Robert G. Salesses

President Donald Trump appointed Robert G. Salesses as Acting Secretary of Defense in January 2025. Respected across the Department of Defense, Salesses brought decades of leadership experience to the role. Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Defense Continuity and Mission Assurance.
