Santa Barbara, California is the county seat of Santa Barbara County, California, United States. As of 2020, 88,665 people lived there.[1] It is the second largest city in the county, just after Santa Maria, California.

Mission Santa Barbara, known as "the Queen of the Missions", was founded by the Spanish in 1786.
Don José de la Guerra y Noriega served as Commandant of the Presidio of Santa Barbara and founded the Guerra family of California, a prominent Californio family which produced numerous Mayors of Santa Barbara, California Senators, and more.
