Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence
The Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is various efforts to find signals from extraterrestrial life. It included a program that individuals could use on their computers to search for radio signals from worlds with alien life. This was maybe the most famous of the BOINC or Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing programs that allow users to use their computers for scientific research.
