Sinbad the Sailor

Sinbad the Sailor is a fictional character in the One Thousand and One Nights (The Arabian Nights). He is a sailor. His stories take place in the days of Haroun al-Rashid. Sindbad is an Arab from Baghdad (modern day Iraq). He has many adventures. He meets monsters such as The Old Man of the Sea and the Roc. There are seven stories about Sinbad's journeys. They are sometimes a part of the Scheherazade stories. The Sinbad stories have been made into movies and animated cartoons.
