Spanaway Junior High School shooting
On November 26, 1985, a school shooting occurred at the schoolyard of Spanaway Junior High School in Spanaway, Washington, United States. Students Gordon Pickett and Christopher Ricco were shot and killed; Ricco died protecting Pickett. The shooter, 14-year-old Heather Smith, who was Pickett's ex-girlfriend, committed suicide later that evening during a standoff with police.
