Star Wars Episode I: Battle for Naboo is an action arcade flight video game. It was published by LucasArts, with THQ doing publishing in Europe for the N64. It was developed by both Factor 5 and LucasArts.[1]

The game was released on December 3, 1998 in North America and on December 4, 1998 in Europe for the Windows. It was also released on December 8, 1998 in North America and on January 10, 1999 in Europe for the Nintendo 64.[2]

The game's setting is during the Fall of Theed. In the game, the player plays as Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes. They fly around and destroy enemies to try and liberate the planet Naboo from invading battle droids that have been sent by the Trade Federation on orders of Darth Sidious.[3]

It is a spiritual successor to the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Reception

The game was very well liked by game critics. Critics said that they liked the aerial combat, story, and controls. However, some critics didn't like the graphics or the ground missions.[4][5][6][7]

IGN named the game as their Game of the Month in December 2000.[8]
