Taboo

A Taboo is a subject, word, or action that is avoided for religious or social reasons. Certain taboos that were avoided in the past may be okay in the future based on changes in society.

• In our country it is considered taboo to speak about religious beliefs.
• Discussing your salary has always been a social taboo in our company.
• John was addicted to pain medications, but felt it would be taboo to talk about it with his friends.
