Taldom (Russian: Талдом) is a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 110 kilometers (68 miles) north of Moscow. The 2010 Russian Census says their are 13,819 people in the town.

Population

In 2010, 13,819 people populated the area. In 2025, the town population counted approximately 16,940 inhabitants.[1] Since the Soviet Union, the settlement's populace has been slowly growing.

Taldom is characterized by its artisanal shoemaking practice. It was founded after the Middle Ages, in 1677.[2] The town's flag features a white crane holding a golden wheat stalk in its beak. This element of the banner symbolizes prosperity and Russian wildlife. The town consists of many churches and chapels.

Area and geography

Its area surface is measured to be 7 square kilometres, equal to approximately 2,7 square miles. It is located in west-central Russia, near Yaroslavl (Russian: Ярославль) and Tver (Russian: Тверь). Usually, the temperature varies from -12.2°C or 10°F to 23.9°C or 75°F.[3] Like most of Russia, Taldom's climate is continental. Common precipitation includes snow, hail and rain. Winters are tough and long.
