Usage
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects to redirect templates by default. If placed on a page in a namespace other than template space, then it will also populate Category:Redirects to template from non-template namespace (for PNRs and CNRs). When it is used to tag a main-article namespace (mainspace) redirect, then it will also populate Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Redirects in mainspace that target pages in the template namespace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
- Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:
#REDIRECT Template:(target page name) R to redirect template
- and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:
#REDIRECT Template:(target page name) R to redirect template R unprintworthy
- Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT Template:(target page name) R to redirect template
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat to tag any redirect that targets a redirect category (rcat) template. The redirect may be a shortcut or the result of a page move/rename. When the redirect is a shortcut, then it is a "template shortcut" no matter what namespace it is in and should also be tagged with R from template shortcut.
