Template:Related category

Template:CatRel is an easy-to-use template for linking categories horizontally, with the following text shown on the category page ("Xyz 123" being replaced by the name of the linked category):

See also the related Category:Xyz 123.

Horizontal linkage is often the correct solution when vertical linkage (i.e. as sub-category and parent category) is not good.

In most cases, Template:CatRel should be used on both categories to create reciprocal linkage between the two categories.

How to use

  • Type {{CatRel|CATEGORY NAME}}

replacing "CATEGORY NAME" with the name only of the target category, leaving out the term "Category:".

Typing {{CatRel|Textbook controversies}} makes:

See also the related Category:Textbook controversies.

(In actual use, there will, of course, be a functional link.)

  • Time-saving hint: Copy & paste the name of the target category. This also ensures accurate replication of the category's name, including punctuation.
