Template:Stub category/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Stub category.
It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

Usage

For example:

|article=[[Belgium]]
|newstub=Belgium-stub
|category=Belgium
}}

will show:

This category is for stub articles relating to Belgium. You can help by making them longer.
To add an article to this category, use {{Belgium-stub}} instead of {{stub}}.

The |category type= parameter inserts additional text between the phrases "This category is for" and "stub articles relating to ...", so using |category type=biographical will give "This category is for biographical stub articles relating to ...".

There is also an optional parameter |WikiProject= which links to a relevant WikiProject page. For example:

|article=Sportspeople
|newstub=sports-bio-stub
|category=Sportspeople
|category type=biographical
|WikiProject=Sports
}}

will show:

This category is for biographical stub articles relating to Sportspeople. You can help by making them longer. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports.
To add an article to this category, use {{sports-bio-stub}} instead of {{stub}}.
