With this template, typing eg. 4{{th}} can be used as a shortcut to typing 4^th, producing 4^th.

Note also Template:Ordinal, which also works with numbers ending in 1, 2, and 3, but is not superscripted, eg:

{{Ordinal|4}} gives 4th, and {{Ordinal|3}} gives 3rd
