This is a template to generate links to interviews about specific programs at the website The Interviews: An Oral History of Television. It should only be used in the "external links" section of an article.
To link a specific person, use {{The Interviews name}}.
Usage
The required parameter is the ID text. The template then uses the article title as the anchor text:
* {{The Interviews title | ID }} * {{The Interviews title | id = ID }}
To have the link text be other than the article name, use second parameter:
* {{The Interviews title | ID | Name }} * {{The Interviews title | id = ID | title = Title }}
Instructions
- Go to interviews
.televisionacademy .com /shows and find the link for the appropriate show - Follow the link to go to the show's page.
- The URL will look like this:
https://interviews.televisionacademy.com/shows/<!-- ID -->
. Copy the part of the url which is substituted here with <!-- ID -->. This will be the first parameter (orid=
). - Add the show's name in the next parameter (or
name=
) if it is different from the page name. - Add one of the following to the external links section of the article:
- * {{The Interviews shows | id= <<!-- ID --> }}
- * {{The Interviews shows | <!-- ID --> }}
- * {{The Interviews shows | id= <!-- ID --> | title= <!-- title --> }}
- * {{The Interviews shows | <!-- ID --> | <!-- title --> }}
This can be used when the Wikipedia page name contains disambiguation brackets; for example at the page The Twilight Zone use {{The Interviews name|twilight-zone-the|The Twilight Zone}}
to have "The Twilight Zone at The Interviews: An Oral History of Television" rather than "The Twilight Zone (1959 TV series) at The Interviews: An Oral History of Television". This is also necessary should you need to add an interview link to an article about somebody or something other than the linked person (for example, if you include the link for Meeting of Minds in the Steve Allen article, you must specify "Meeting of Minds" as the text for the link using this option).
Example
- Copy and paste one of the options above into the article
- Go to interviews
.televisionacademy .com /shows and search for the desired show (say, The Dick Cavett Show; you'll reach https://interviews.televisionacademy.com/shows/dick-cavett-show
) - Copy only the text after
/people/
(here, "dick-cavett-show
") - Replace "
ID
" in the template code with the text- For the first option above, you'll then have
* {{The Interviews title | dick-cavett-show}}
. When used on The Dick Cavett Show, the result will be:- Note that the link text is the same as the title of the page the template is used on; outside the page "The Dick Cavett Show", use the second option:
- Replace "
ID
" with the text taken from the URL and "Title
" with "The Dick Cavett Show
"* {{The Interviews title | dick-cavett-show-the | The Dick Cavett Show }}
results in:
- For the first option above, you'll then have
