The Mask of Fu Manchu
The Mask of Fu Manchu is a 1932 American adventure horror movie directed by Charles Brabin and Charles Vidor. It was based on the 1932 novel of the same name by Sax Rohmer. The movie starred Boris Karloff as Fu Manchu and Myrna Loy as his daughter Fah Lo Suee. Other charachters are played by Lewis Stone, Karen Morley, Charles Starrett, Jean Hersholt, Lawrence Grant. The movie was distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
The plot line is a race to find the tomb of Genghis Khan. The film brought protests from both the Chinese and Japanese governments of the day. Scenes were cut in response, and later restored.
In the film (but not in the book series) Fu Manchu is killed.
