The Miami Herald is an American newspaper. It is headquartered in Miami-Dade County, Florida.[1] Founded in 1903, it is the fifth largest newspaper in Florida.[2][3][4]The Miami Herald has been awarded 24 Pulitzer Prizes.[5]

History

20th century

In 1903, Frank B. Stoneman moved the Orlando Record newspaper to Miami, [6] and called it the Miami Evening Record.[7] In 1907, the name changed to the Miami Morning News-Record.[6]

In 1910, Frank B. Shutts bought the newspaper and renamed it to the Miami Herald.[8]

During the Florida land boom of the 1920s, the Miami Herald was the largest newspaper in the world.

The newspaper won its first Pulitzer Prize in 1950, for its reporting on Miami's organized crime.[9]

The newspaper was bought in 2019.[10]
