The Sound of Silence
"The Sound of Silence" (originally "The Sounds of Silence") is a 1964 debut single by Simon & Garfunkel and is the leading single from their debut studio album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.. It went to number 1 in the United States, Japan and South Africa, number 2 in New Zealand, number 3 in Zimbabwe, Australia and Austria, number 10 in the Netherlands and number 4 in Canada. It was covered by Paul Simon in 1974 and by American alternative band Disturbed for their sixth studio album Immortalized. It went to number 42 in the United States, number 4 in Australia, number 29 in the United Kingdom, number 31 in Ireland, number 32 in New Zealand and number 1 in Austria.
