Tie Ning

Tie Ning (铁凝) (born September 1957) is an author and politican from Beijing. From 2006 to 2025, she was the first female president of the China Writers Association.[1] [2] Her father was a painter, and her mother was a musician.[3]

On 10 March 2023, she was appointed a Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.[4] She left the seat of presidency of the China Writers Assocation in the same month. Since then, she represented China on diplomatic missions from time to time.[5]
