History

Huge Maneki neko at Tokoname

Tokoname has been known for making ceramics since the 12th century.^[1] The city is Japan's top producer of Maneki Neko.^[2]

Geography

Tokoname is on the western coast of Chita Peninsula in southern Aichi Prefecture.
