U.S. Research Protection Act
The United States Research Protection Act (H.R. 1318) is an American bill passed in the United States House of Representatives in March 2025.[1] The bill was introduced by Congressman Mike Kennedy, a Republican representative from Utah. The bill has been sent to the United States Senate.[1] According to the U.S. government, "This bill updates the definition of “malign foreign talent recruitment programs” included in the CHIPS and Science Act to provide greater clarity for our federal research agencies and universities in identifying and addressing threats to our scientific research enterprise."[2] The bill had bipartisan support in the House.[2]
