Controversy

There was a lot of controversy after UBVS national president Sunil Shukla wrote a letter to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Sabarmati jail to contest elections from his party.[5][6] Lawrence Bishnoi is a gangster who is accused of planning the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala and NCP MLA Baba Siddique.[7][8][9][10]

The national president of this party compared Lawrence Bishnoi to revolutionary martyr Bhagat Singh and said that we see Bhagat Singh in you.[11][12]

In November 2024, After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray extended support to the BJP, the UBVS had put up posters reading 'Uttar Bhartiyon Batoge to Pitoge' in several parts of Mumbai.[13]

Petition filed against raj thackeray

In April 7, 2025, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of India accusing MNS president Raj Thackeray of delivering hate speech and inciting violence against the North Indian community.[14][15] The petition, filed by Sunil Shukla, national president of the Uttar Bhartiya Vikas Sena, and represented by advocate Sriram Parakkat, alleged state inaction against MNS members for harassment and violence.[16] The plea cited Thackeray’s March 30 speech during a Gudi Padwa rally, which allegedly provoked attacks on Hindi-speaking individuals in Mumbai.[source?] It also referenced prior threats, including a tweet inciting murder and over 100 anonymous threatening phone calls.[17]
