Vaala is a municipality in North Ostrobothnia, Finland. It had 3,195 living there in January 2014. The municipalities next to it are Kajaani, Liminka, Muhos, Paltamo, Puolanka, Siikalatva and Utajärvi.
Previously, Vaala was part of the Kainuu region but was changed to Northern Ostrobothnia on 1 January 2016.
